Thomas Stevens, the first man to circle the globe by bicycle. His journal about his voyage in 1884-1887 is just stupendous. A good example how even primitive gear makes everything possible. He carried only socks, spare shirt, rain coat, bedroll and a handgun with him.

Jukka Salminen is a Finn biking across every continent (apart from Antarctica). Interestingly, we’re almost the same age and we come almost from the same neighborhood. His website has astonishing pictures.

Herbert Born is a German elderlish bike expert. We met by coincidence in 2009 in Latvia, biking opposite directions. This man helped me out with my bicycle purchase.

Erik Jelinek is a World Traveler I met randomly in Lebanon. His blog is a witty English-written journal of his adventures.

Allan Karl hosted me and Jukka for three nights in California. Allan has motorbiked 60 000 miles in Americas, Africa and Europe.

Peder has cycled in Asia and Africa and taken some amazing pics. He visited me in Turku and I visited him in Stockholm – both being our last stops on our journeys.
